Located just under an hour's drive from Melbourne, right in the centre of the Yarra Valley's food and wine district, Healesville is home to some of the most exceptional artists, wineries, cafes and restaurants and Natures Cakes is contributing to the region's reputation.
Faith's passion lies in creating freshly baked cakes, cookies and biscuits. The recipes are inspired by what is in season. Her rhubarb muffins and delicious sweet treats range from vegan chai bundt, Moroccan spice cake and classic walnut brownies to something a little fruitier like berry frangipane or beetroot & ginger cake.
Made with quality ingredients that are locally sourced from their Yarra Valley kitchen garden, supplies also come through the local community, including quinces, beetroot, fresh figs and even chestnuts. For something completely different, try the Castagnaccio, an Italian-inspired chestnut cake. A taste of Italy in the heart of Healesville.
Her husband Darren aka "the Barrista" whips up a great specialty hot coffee or warm sticky chai with a handcrafted, fragrant spice and sweet blend with floral Australian honey. Takeaway comes in compatible cups to help cut down on waste. Greeted with a smile, it's warm and welcoming. I must admit the smell from the freshly baked cakes led us straight to their doorstep!
