Movie discussion night addressing nature play & education
On Wednesday 10 May, Suburban Sandcastles present their next inspiring event 'Nature Play: Take Childhood Back'.

Nature Play: Take Childhood Back
Nature Play

Suburban Sandcastles offer insightful movie screenings and discussion nights in the beautifully restored Shirley Burke Theatre in Parkdale.

Each event opens up discussions following the subjects that are bought up in thought-provoking film and documentary screenings. Such nights have addressed subjects such as body image, food waste, the damage of fast fashion, home birthing, and more.

The forthcoming event, Nature Play: Take Childhood Back will kick off with a screening of NaturePlay, a stunning cinematic portrait of childhood filmed in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the US that portrays the Scandinavian method of teaching, living and enjoying nature, compared with the high stakes and high-stress American testing culture.

Following that, the evening will see a Q&A session with education leader Dr Shona Bass of Early Life Foundations & Amy and Jade of Growing Green Thumbs who are passionate about connecting children with nature and growing food in a sustainable environment.
