Make Your Own Face Cream and Products
Last month I attended a three hour workshop learning the basics of Aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils, garnered from plant material, for a variety of purposes including physical and emotional wellbeing. It's not really a concept to far out of the box. Afterall, who hasn't resorted to a cup of chamomile tea when plagued by insomnia ?
Thirteen of us gathered at the premises of the Australian College of Aromatherapy , Suite 3, 16 -36 Nile Street, Woolloongabba , to create our own unique moisturising cream.
We had to determine our own personal skin type, and then from the information gained earlier from the Aromatherapist, select the oils most suited to our skin type and intended use, first ensuring that there were no adverse reactions to the particular oils. This was the best part of the workshop:- blending a mixture of oils into the base cream. My personal blend, one for the more mature skin, contains five separate essential oils.
I've been using this specialist face cream on a daily basis for several weeks now. Do I look any less world weary ? No, not at all, though my skin is soft and well hydrated, unlike the rest of the body which feels dry in the harshness of winter.
I also feel a sense of accomplishment in that I have gained knowledge which will allow me to create a chemical-free moisturising cream for my face . What a bonus that the cost to create my own lotion will be so much less expensive than brands I have been purchasing from the make-up department for years.
This workshop will be repeated on Friday, 31st July , from between 1 pm and 4 pm. Bookings are essential at a fee of $59-00. And remember, you take your blend home!
I'm excited about another workshop being delivered on Friday, 14th August, also between 1 pm and 4 pm. This one is designed to show you how you can create so many more of your own natural products using the essential oils.
I'm told that some of the products on the agenda include bath salts, talc, massage oil blends, and even aftershave!
Book a place for this workshop too. I hope I learn how to blend a cream for the rest of my body.
