A few weeks ago, I had heard about Natural 9, a restaurant within Casino Canberra. The restaurant combines Chinese cuisine with modern Australian ingredients to create something a little different. Naturally, I was curious to try out the place!
Finding the restaurant was a little bit of an adventure, as I hadn't realised Natural 9 was literally inside of the casino. When we finally found it, we decided that we would order the pre-theatre banquet which is available between 5:30pm and 6:30pm but you have to be done in an hour; in return, you order five dishes for $35 a person. Since we normally eat quickly, this seemed like the perfect option for us.
With the clock ticking we ordered the vegetable spring rolls with native currant dipping sauce, kung pao lamb ribs with pickled ginger, bbq slipper lobster with xo glass noodles, master stock braised pork belly with bush tomato jam and stir-fried greens in ginger and native currents.
After ordering, the dishes came out quickly and they all looked delicious. I personally loved the lamb ribs and the pork belly the best as they were both cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. I wanted to like the BBQ slipper lobster, but as I'm not a fan of spice, I couldn't handle the heat of the dish.
