Tuesday 16 November 2021 from 10.30am to 3pm AEST at
IndigiScapes Centre, 17 Runnymede Rd, Capalaba. You'll be spending a day with bee expert, scientist and educator Dr Tim Heard and learn all you need to know about native bees & how to keep them at home. This event is suitable for people 18 years plus. The cost includes morning tea on arrival, lunch, and honey tasting for afternoon tea, brought to you by local pollinators, and catered by IndigiCafe. You can also explore IndigiScapes hives in the Native Botanic Gardens and plan a visit to the Nursery (open 10am to 3pm) to learn more about pollinator attracting native plants.
This workshop alternates between slide presentations and a practical session, giving you a strong foundation of knowledge. The stunning slide presentation will cover topics as follows -
Bee nesting biology
Bee foraging biology
Diversity of wild bees
Importance of bees in natural systems
Traditional stingless beekeeping around the world
Modern stingless beekeeping in Australia
Using stingless bees for pollination of gardens and farms
Sugarbag honey and its properties

In the practical session, you'll be able to observe the amazing structures within a hive which will be divided open. It'll show you the process of colony propagation and finish with a tasting of native honey. IndigiScapes hold many events throughout the year, so be sure to check their
