I have been to a number of zoos before and I must say the National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra is absolutely spectacular and it is the only zoo and aquarium in Australia that is combined!

so cute and innocent looking... until she opens her mouth...

You need an entire day to really get the most of it and see all the animals on display, including the aquarium, as the zoo and aquarium is sitting on 7 hectares of land.

what you looking at?

They have a vast variety of both native and exotic animals on display and the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia as well.
All the animals are so adorable and cuddly including the brown bear!

it's nap time...

The kids will really love it here, even if it is just a day trip to Canberra. Do arrive early though so you can fit in as much animal shows as you can' they are highly recommended for education purposes and the enjoyment of watching the animals interact and get all excited when their tucker arrives.

food time!

They have plenty of picnic areas and BBQ facilities so you can even bring your own lunch and have a picnic at the zoo!

white lion with two heads... just kidding

Animal encounters are also available at the zoo, so you are able to get up close and personal with the amazing animals. There are also a number of family tours available (please check their website for more details).
