On Friday 17th May, children across Australia are being encouraged to put their feet first, by participating in the 20th anniversary of National Walk Safely to School Day. The annual event raises awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long term well-being of our children. Apart from the physical benefits, regular walking also has a favourable impact on their cognitive and academic performance.
To support this event, schools are encouraged to also host a FREE healthy breakfast in conjunction with their local supermarket or greengrocer. Resources on how to participate and how to host a healthy breakfast are available on the website.
