Event:
Cheer loud and thank our volunteers
Where would we be without volunteers? Volunteers provide generous contributions to our community, undertaking many diverse and some very difficult roles. Volunteers perform an incredible range of different tasks from tour guides, hospital aides, timekeepers, kitchen help and drivers and firefighters.

It is hard to imagine just how much of the work within society is provided by volunteers, however here are some little-known facts:

In 2016, 932 million hours were volunteered.
Volunteering for males is predominantly in the 45-54 year age group with 302,612 volunteering.
For females the predominant age group is 35-44 years with 399,889 volunteering.
Research indicates that volunteering yields a 450% return for every dollar invested.
Volunteers are driven by a desire to make a difference.

These contributions deserve to be celebrated and National Volunteer Week, Monday 21 to Sunday 27 May 2018 gives us just that opportunity to say thank you to our very valuable volunteers.
