The much awaited is finally heading to Sydney.
The bashers will travel from Brisbane on the 7th of August and will take their own route. An approximate 1,700 outrageous characters will be revving up the road in a roaring convoy of 550 vintage, antique and classic vehicles spanning across six states and territories and finally re-uniting at Moore Park on the 17th of August from 11 am for an event attended by Dick Smith. This event is also open to the public. Then a spectacular parade and a grand celebration will follow. It will be an exciting event no one should miss.
This mammoth 20,000kms journey is in support of Variety – The Children's Charity. Throughout their travels, they will raise funds, visit local towns and stop at schools (some have only 5 students) to meet the children.
The Variety bash began in the iconic outback town of Bourke, where another philanthropist
Fred Hollow rests in peace.
The town is approximately 772km from Sydney, 1000km from Melbourne, 930km from Brisbane, and 1130km from Adelaide. Bourke is located in North West NSW on the banks of the Darling River.
The Bash was created by adventurer and famous philanthropist Dick Smith. After 30 years of sheer hard work, The Bash has become the most loved charity motoring events seen here in Australia.
Variety is a children's charity not-for-profit organisation that is committed to assist Australian children who are disadvantaged, sick, and require special needs regardless of their background or ability. Its mission is to help reach the maximum potential of these children by providing practical equipment, developing programs and experiences that would allow them to enjoy their freedom, better mobility, ability to communicate, gain their independence, increase self-esteem, and assist in helping them integrate to the mainstream school.
Quoting from their website "we help kids be kids"
To this day an average $1million worth of equipment's every month is delivered across Australia. These grants are from the generosity of individuals and organisations, thereby filling the gaps left by the government and other organisations.
Amidst the sufferings that some of these children had endured, they are rest assured that there are people out there who are willing to donate their time and money to help them overcome obstacles and live life to the fullest.
