A National Trust Membership takes you places. There is often enough to make it worthwhile in your state as even when you have visited most of the National Trust properties they are always offering new events and programs.
If you are travelling around Australia it makes for free outings everywhere you go. As an example as a National Trust member, you receive free access to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Queensland.
I'm from Melbourne but recently visited the Everglades property in the Blue Mountains and was so absorbed by the fabulous Art Deco architecture and stunning gardens I spent all day there.
Here is where you can go.
If you have overseas trips planned even better as your National Trust of Australia card grants reciprocal visiting arrangements with heritage organisations in other countries. Members of these organisations are usually admitted FREE* or at discounted prices on the production of a current membership card.
Here is a list of places you could go.
The National Trust is part of a network of over 80 heritage organisations around the world, which are represented by the International National Trusts Organisation (INTO). There are over 1,000 places in many countries, from England and Scotland to Canada and the Cayman Islands.
For example, you could visit Beatrix Potter’s famous home in the UK’s Lake District; Scotland’s 16th-century icon, Crathes Castle; the last remaining sugar mill in Barbados; the Olivetti shop in Venice; the largest working waterwheel in the world in the Isle of Man; and many more.
Using your membership on your holiday means you’ll see some of the most impressive historic buildings, castles, gardens, estates, forests and beaches, that a country has to offer. It’s also travelling a higher purpose as you are supporting the conservation of local culture and nature.
Free entry is not valid at some sites and excludes special exhibitions and guided tours. You should check the local visiting arrangements and admission information by visiting the websites of participating National Trusts.
There are senior and concession rates on the annual fees. The $35 being waived is the new member's initial joining fee.
