Sun 30 Jul 2017
is on Sunday 30th July. It's organised by the environmental organisation Planet Ark in conjunction with Toyota Australia. The event is also supported by many celebrity ambassadors such as Jamie Durie, Costa Georgiadis and dirtgirl (who many children will be familiar with).
There are multiple events occurring throughout Australia which you can get involved in. To find an event local to you, visit
treeday.planetark.org There are over 100 sites in Victoria alone so there is bound to be one near you.
Last year over 75,000 Victorians helped plant more than 250,000 trees at over 800 sites. Nationally 1.1 million trees were planted by nearly 310,000 people. Why not join in this year and be one of them?
As a not for profit organisation, Planet Ark is focused on collaborating with schools, companies and government organisations as well as people generally in order to increase connection to nature.
Worldwide research has shown that being outside in nature is beneficial for adults as well as children in lowering stress levels and improving emotional and physical well being. A new report from Planet Ark (sponsored by Toyota Australia) entitled
Learning From Trees – Life Lessons For Future Generations backs this up.
Connect with your community and the natural environment by doing something positive this weekend. As this year's theme states, "Be inspired – It's in our nature!"
