The annual NSLF (National Sustainable Living Festival) is a great reminder and teacher that inspires us to keep getting better at embracing sustainability and living in communion with our natural environment. A huge celebration, this festival is a showcase of ideas and action for sustainability we could incorporate into our lives to take better care of the world we live in for our future generations.

Running from 1-28 February 2023, this is a month-long program of local and international talks, forums, workshops, film, art, and design events that'll challenge and inspire. Find the events program here to make bookings for events and workshops you're interested in - some are in-person and some online.

The Great Local Picnic - a big green day out is one of the popular events with ABC's Gardening Australia's Costa Georgiadis held at the Royal Botanic Gardens on Sun 26 Feb from 12-4.30pm. Aside from being a huge afternoon celebrating sustainability, it also features a huge lineup of special guest sustainability innovators including Helena Norberg-Hodge, Dr. Sandro Demaio, Alice Zaslavsky, Tishiko King, Tim Entwisle, David Holmgren and more. A free event, bring your picnic needs along and join the showcase of local food, innovative sustainability, and community connection.

For those of you thinking of going the whole 9 yards, Going Off Grid held on 8 and 16 Feb 6.30-7.30pm could be the big drawcard. It's a practical workshop to help you plan and design your dream home if you're thinking of going self-sufficient. An interactive and creative workshop, it'll investigate a range of issues, hurdles, and elements in practice, with real-life examples. Be sure to book your spot.
