Connect with stories of discovery, exploration & science

National Science Week is an annual festival of science which celebrates and explores science, innovation and technology and their role in maintaining and improving our society, economy and environment.

This year, you and your family are invited to take a journey of discovery into the remarkable world of science through State Library Collection stories and archives.

From 9 August to 19 August 2018, take part in story trails, games, talks, panel discussions and films.

Connect with stories of discovery, exploration, science, innovation, technology and research from the days of settlement through to the contemporary faces of science.

FREE program highlights include:

  • Twilight Science - a fun-filled evening of wine, science, weather, archival stories and NASA's moon rocks.

  • IGNITION - Close encounters - Frontiers of science - hear panel members as they probe the question, when does science fiction become science fact?

  • IGNITION - Moon rocks, space debris and scientific frontiers with Dr Jeanette Dixon.

National Science Week offers something for all ages. All events are FREE, however, bookings are essential - to secure your place, visit and select your desired event/s.
