Celebrating science and technology
Established in 1997, National Science Week is an annual celebration of science and technology featuring more than a thousand events across the nation with over a million people participating in them. This year's events will be held from the 12th to the 20th of August 2017. Those interested in science pursuits or fascinated by technology are invited to participate. The full list of events can be found on the National Science Week website. However, I would like to highlight some of their free Adelaide events here just to entice you and your kids.

On Wednesday the 16th, you can create your own virtual reality experience at Adelaide City Library. This workshop is presented by the University of South Australia and will show you how to capture images and videos and use web-based tools to create virtual reality experiences viewable on your mobile devices. No previous experience or technical ability required. On Saturday the 19th, you can bring a NAO robot to life at Adelaide City Library. This workshop will introduce you to the world of artificial intelligence coding.
Your high school kids can build their own Scru-Fe robot at the RoboRoos open day event on Sunday the 13th. This event will introduce them to basic soldering and how sensors work. At the end, the robot will be theirs to keep.
