Azaleas are flowering shrubs that bloom in winter. They may be mistaken as rhododendrons at casual glance but Azaleas are generally smaller and do not bloom in clusters. I was immediately attracted by the deep pink flowers atop light green foliage near the entrance of the National Rhododendron Garden.
