Op Shop Til You Drop
Spring is sprung, and it's time for a clean out at home! And what better time to do it than in National Op Shop Week?
National Op Shop Week 2014 is being held across Australia this week, from Sunday 24th to Sunday 31st August 2014. The aim of op shop week is to raise awareness of the important role of charity op shops in our community and to encourage community interest in terms of:
- boosting donations of quality clothing and household goods to charity op shops
- boosting charity op shop sales, and
- recognising the tremendous work of the volunteers and staff dedicated to supporting their charity op shop.
Salvos Stores have a pop up vintage clothes store in Myer Eastland this week
All proceeds from customer donations and purchases at charity op shops support the wonderful work undertaken by these charities in your community.
So take the opportunity to dig through your wardrobe and liberate those clothes that haven't seen the light of day in years. Research shows that on average, around 30% of clothes in a wardrobe haven't been worn for at least a year. How many unworn clothes are taking up space in your wardrobe?
Hooray for guilt free shopping!
Take your bags of unwanted clothes (or other goods) to your local op shop and enjoy not only the pleasure of having more space in your wardrobe, but also that warm, satisfied feeling of knowing you've helped someone else.
Some events are taking place in Melbourne to celebrate Op Shop Week. There is a Salvos Stores pop up vintage clothes store located this week on the ground floor of Myer Eastland, Ringwood. Check the trading hours of Myer Eastland here.
And don't forget to dress in your op shop best this Friday 29th August! This event is aimed at promoting awareness of the Epilepsy Foundation. For more information, click here.
