Sat 29 Jun 2019 - Sun 30 Jun 2019

In celebration of NAIDOC Week , Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from around Australia are coming together on Sat 29 June (10am to 6pm) and Sun 30 Jun (10am to 4pm) 2019 at Overseas Passenger Terminal, 130 Argyle St, The Rocks for a two day art market and other events and activities.

For a gold coin donation entry (supports First Hand Solutions Aboriginal youth programs), you get the unique opportunity to buy artwork direct from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from more than 20 remote community owned art centres from the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.

In the spirit of NAIDOC's theme Voice, Treaty Truth, this event also features a full program of live music, weaving circles, Aboriginal dance performances and more. There'll also be more than 30 stallholders selling art, jewellery gifts, homewares and Indigenous food and beverages. Before your very eyes, a group of fibre artists and weavers from remote communities will create a woven interpretation of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Check HERE for the full event schedule over the two days that includes Welcome to Country, smoking, singing and dance performance, weaving and shellwork workshops, cooking demonstrations, story telling for the kids and more. Stay updated via the website and/or event page where you'll find more details about the event and snippets of news and attractions at the upcoming Fair in the discussion section .

You'll find a wide price range of 200 plus artworks, aiming to appeal to a wide range of art aficionados and collectors, and the general public. There are various mediums that include paintings, carvings, prints, photos, weaving, pottery and earthenware, some artefacts and a small range of dedicated gifts and souvenir products. You'll see the use of natural ochre and pigments on canvas that draws on traditional Ngarranggarni (Dreaming) stories and contemporary life.

The popular hand burnt artefacts from Arts Ceduna will be just one of the items on display. It's reflective of the environmental diversity of the region that ranges from the red desert sands to the crystal blue waters of the unique coastline. Bush dyed clothes and scarves, Bush Medicine, carved and painted boab nuts and hand printed t-shirts are on the agenda. As you can see, it's an opportunity not to be missed; to be up close and engaging with the artists and their beautiful wares.
