Established in 1993, The National Dinosaur Museum at Gold Creek Village in Canberra has grown from a small collection featuring permanent displays of dinosaurs and prehistoric fossils to an interactive museum about Earth's history. The museum has won various awards, such as the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Award in 2020.

Through the various exhibits on the ground and first floors, visitors will not only be able to learn about dinosaurs but also the various plants and animals that lived at various times in Earth's history. Visitors will also get to take a look at various fossils, some of which can be touched. Some displays are enhanced by sound effects and animatronics. For those who feel that the sounds and animatronics may be too scary for them or their kids, the museum has a 'quiet time' on the first Tuesday of each month from 3 pm to 5 pm, when they are turned off. The 'quiet time' service is not offered during school holidays in the ACT.

Included in the admission price is access to the Dinosaur Park, where kids can play on the various models of dinosaurs. Some of them provide great photo opportunities. For the sake of safety, adults are advised to supervise their kids as not all the dinosaur models are safe to climb on.

The museum's gift shop is where visitors can purchase a wide range of dinosaur-themed products, which include plush toys, scale models, T-shirts and even genuine dinosaur fossils. There is also a section dedicated to mineral and gemstone-related products. If they wish, visitors can also press their very own souvenir coin.
