With more than 200 Australians developing type 2 diabetes EVERY DAY, it is the fastest growing chronic disease in Australia with serious complications.

There are 2 main types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2 and at this point in time, it has no known cure. Type 1 can occur at any age but is more often found in children and young adults. The onset of type 1 is sudden, and obvious symptoms can include excessive thirst, passing large amounts of urine, unexplained weight loss, weakness and fatigue and blurred vision.

Type 2 is the most common form affecting 85 - 90 percent of all people with diabetes. It usually develops in adults around the age of 45, but its increasingly occurring in younger people. Type 2 is known as a 'lifestyle' disease (carrying excess weight, being inactive) and runs in families.
