Candy Corn Day, so if you're only familiar with the standard yellow, orange, and white form, this is your excuse to broaden your knowledge about the candy. There's a lot more involved with this little candy than some may think. Besides digging into a bag of candy corn, there's a variety of other ways to celebrate the day.

Learn the facts

Candy corn started out in Philadelphia in the 1880's and is still popular today. Did you know that each piece of candy corn is approximately 3.5 calories? For more facts and history about this bright-colored candy, check out A cute treat idea to give to loved ones is to type some of the facts you learn onto a gift tag, hole punch it, then tie it with a ribbon to a small bag of candy corn.

Buy some different varieties

Everyone is familiar with the standard yellow, orange, and white candy corn, but there's also quite a few other varieties. On, you can find candy corn in flavors such as caramel apple, chocolate caramel, tangerine, gingerbread, and cherry. For a party, you can put several bowls and place one type in each – put a small tag in front of each bowl so guests can identify the different flavors.

Try some recipes

Although many are perfectly content with just eating a bunch of candy corn, you can also use them for a few recipes. On, one delicious recipe is candy corn bark which is made using only a hand-full of ingredients such as chocolate sandwich cookies, pretzels, white chocolate, raisins and, of course, candy corn. For those who would rather try to make the candy corn rather than buy it, has a recipe for how to make it that makes about 60 – 80 pieces and takes a little more than an hour from start to finish.

Dress up

Considering October 30 is National Candy Corn Day, it's only appropriate to dress up as a candy corn witch. The dress is black, yellow, orange, and white and comes with matching tights and hat. You can currently find the costume on for $36.99. For dog owners who want their pet to get in on the fun, there's a Candy Corn Witch Dog Costume currently available on for $15.95. If you would rather not completely dress in candy corn attire, you can use an inspired wristlet instead. It looks just like the real thing, just large enough to fit all your items you're carrying around for the night. The wristlet is currently available on for $11.95.

Give some gifts

Those who want to send a loved one a special candy corn gift have wonderful options other than just shipping a bag of the candy. Teleflora has two versions of the Candy Corn Surprise Bouquet that consist of a base filled with candy corn along with beautiful fall colored flowers. Another option is the Philosophy I Love Candy Corn™ Shampoo, Shower Gel, and Bubble Bath, which is currently available on for $16.

One problem with candy corn items is that they're so popular in the fall and especially around Halloween that it's difficult to keep many of the products in stock. Before your favorite item gets sold out, make sure to buy enough of it to last you through National Candy Corn Day and even through the end of the year.
