National Barramundi Day (Friday, 21st October 2022) celebrates and promotes Australian barramundi sustainably produced by Australian barramundi farmers. Ambassador and Kiln chef Mitch Orr and over 100 participating restaurants Australia-wide will offer a range of specialty barramundi dishes for lunch and dinner. To find your closest participating restaurant click here.

Alternatively, purchase and cook some Australian barramundi at home (Australian sustainable barramundi is available nationwide in the fresh food sections at Coles and Woolworths and good quality fishmongers). Click here to receive a free downloadable copy of the Aussie Barra Recipe Book.

To learn more about Australia's sustainable barramundi farms, click here. With approximately 60% of barramundi currently being imported into Australia, it's important to ensure you're purchasing 100% genuine Australian barramundi - make sure the country of origin states Australia and if the retailer does not state country of origin, ask.

The good news is the Australian government is planning to introduce new legislation which would require takeaways, restaurants, bars and cafes to state where their seafood originates from, creating transparency for consumers to make an informed choice. There's plenty of ways to enjoy Aussie barra!
