Melburnians interested in Chinese Medicine (TCM) and integrated health care are well-advised to attend Dr. Natasja Fox's two-part seminar series at Jing HealthCare , on the 15th and 22nd July, which links stress with hormonal imbalances. With over 80% of Australians now suffering from one level of adrenal imbalance, this is not just a topic for 'the new age' or that which is contained within 'alternative medicine'. Hormonal and adrenal fatigue can lead to symptoms and fluctuations of the menstrual cycle; menopause or its symptoms; exhaustion and sleep disturbance; weight gain; depression; loss of libido or sexual function; and even hair loss. Before you fully accept the allopathic diagnosis and feel that you just have to deal with a condition, disease or inflammation, come along and listen to Dr. Fox: she is a is a Registered Chinese Medical Practitioner and specialist in this field. Her two entertaining and information-focussed power-point presentations will give you a very different perspective on chronic health imbalances that you may be enduring unnecessarily.

In 2 x 2-hour seminars, Natasja talks about the Chinese Medicine approach (TCM) which fundamentally seeks to balance energy flow and adrenal function. TCM is not a medical tradition that puts 'stress' to one side or treats it as 'psychosomatic': instead, it recognises the emotional-mental relationship to physical health and has clinically addresses stress to optimise mind-body function.

Dr Fox's first seminar, Heal Your Adrenal Glands: Restore your Vitality on July 15th from 12.30-2.45pm, begins by looking at stress and how to tell whether it is 'passive' or 'active'. Natasja will talk about how to limit the actual stress that comes into your body, so that you can begin to self-correct your own stress reactions. Even if you are living under stressful conditions that will not change, becoming aware of what you actually draw in and how it may be negatively affecting the body, is vital to be able to design and sustain self-healing strategies. Stress can cause metabolic confusion and fluctuation, immunity conditions and disorders, digestive blocks and issues as well as fertility problems and mental health degradation. For most Australians, stress has to be addressed.

The first seminar will discuss the three stages of adrenal imbalance. With expertise in herbal medicine, nutrition and diet, TCM, yoga and lifestyle-management courses, Dr Fox will present realistic and accessible ways for you to heal and rejuvenate the adrenal system. Within the afternoon's presentation, there will be a Q & A, as well as time for a light discussion in the tea-coffee break.

As Heal Your Adrenal Glands: Restore your Vitality links stress and hormonal health, audiences will be able to consider how stress and adrenal imbalance also affects the aging process, which includes the risk of disease and inflammation. This is where Natasja's seminar-series becomes really interesting: a holistic health framework and systematic attention can offer hope to conditions, disease and overall health despondency that you may have thought immovable.

Adrenal imbalance is an important consideration for women's health in particular: Dr. Fox's 2nd workshop which is on Saturday July 22nd at the same time, provides an intimate focus on Women's Health: Naturally Balancing Your Hormones (basically stop being bat-shit crazy) . Western medicine has at least undermined and under-researched women's health and cycles, in particular, the relationship between stress (oftentimes, shock), hormones, emotions and sexuality. In Dr. Fox's second presentation, you will learn about the roles of female sex hormones and the role that they have on your body; the matrix of emotions, mental health and sexuality that is the hormonal-physical cycle.

Specifically, Women's Health: Naturally Balancing Your Hormones (basically stop being bat-shit crazy) will discuss: your moon cycle and what is 'normal'; which hormonal irregularities create issues with your cycle and cause PMS; natural fertility management; menopause; and how to balance hormones without pharmaceutical aids.

The real point about these presentations is to understand your body better and how you can self-correct imbalances. Natasja's Q & A section is designed to answer specific questions from the floor. More so, the educative intent is to provide an alternative way for women to look at emotional and physical health, rather than accepting diagnosis and conditions that you have been taught to believe as 'natural', 'genetic' or 'given'. The entire premise of TCM is about re-balancing and optimising energy flow: that is why conditions are seen to be treatable and causes may be able to be addressed as part of a balanced, self-managed program.

Passionate about sustainable health outcomes for real people, Dr. Natasja Fox is well-studied in environmental nutrition and functional medicine. She has extensive experience training in Shen Yang Hospital and has treated thousands of patients around India, who have also visited Jing HealthCare's global mission project, Traditional Health Care India . Natasja has authored three health books and holds a seven-year, double major Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture and Herbal medicine; and has studied Clinical Pilates under Pilates' guru Raphael Bender to broaden her knowledge of TCM and Yoga with anatomy and biomechanics from other related disciplines. You could not be in better hands.

Within the women's presentation, attention paid to 'fertility' and 'menopause' merit special attention. Chinese medicine has had unparalleled success in these two fields of speciality. The TCM approach is not just about 'symptom relief': it examines the 'whys' and questions whether those imbalances are 'in fact' inevitable (e.g., age or genetics). When you consider the stress link (which could be chronic in terms of fertility and shock often brings on menopause or peri-menopausal symptoms) then you begin to see opportunities to reclaim your own health, physical and sexual empowerment and hormonal youth.

With over 18 years' of experience in the health industry, Dr. Fox will share how she has guided Australians to transform their health. Even though the topics seem to be medicinal and the links scientific, Natasja is a warm, colourful and charismatic presenter- her seminars are never dry or jargon-based. A popular speaker at last years' Seven Sister's Festival, expect her July seminars to be jam-packed with well-researched, comprehensive and up-to-date health information with 'a touch of satire, pop culture and plenty of swearing'. (So if profanities offend, you may like to reconsider a personal consultation rather than this seminar series.)

After these seminars, Dr Natasja Fox and the Jing HealthCare team offer several clinical pathways to nourish the glands and rebuild hormones if you feel as though you need professional guidance. Dr. Fox manages and offers The Adrenal Reset Program and will see clients upon completion of this program. In addition, the Jing Health Care centre is a multi-bed clinic with other TCM practitioners who offer acupuncture and herbalism as well as Japanese Medicine practitioners, counsellors, masseurs and regular classes in the Jing Space such as meditation, yoga, Qi Gong and martial arts.

Bookings for Dr. Natasja Fox's seminar series are essential. You can attend both for the discounted price of $60; or each session is $35. To be eligible for these discounted prices, you need to phone Jing HealthCare: the Eventbrite links have GST and a small booking fee added.
