Nasi Lemak House

Nasi Lemak House is a small Carlton restaurant serving "Malaysian hawker food that is unrivalled in authenticity and flavour".

I was feeling lucky so I ordered their number 100, take-away. This turned out to be an Epic Protein Fix involving coconut rice, onions and peanuts served with a curry paste (spicy sambal) and topped with a fried egg. It also came with some papadams and a separate bag filled with fried tofu. There's no way I could have finished it all (I gave it a good shot though).

Let's be honest - my meal didn't look that appetising and it definitely had a fast-food feel to it, but the coconut rice both smelt and tasted amazing. I'd return just for that. The fried tofu was also pretty good - but I imagine most things taste nice fried.

The restaurant itself is nothing fancy (it kind of looks like an unloved old house).

Here are some of the vegetarian options (which apparently may or may not be vegetarian - I didn't want to ask). Their full menu is available here. The meat they use is Halal.
