Not far from Hay and its water tower art is the township of Narrandera and its artwork dream that recently became reality. Sitting on a high point, the town's water tower is highly visible and hence the best canvas for a wrap-around mural showcasing local landmarks, activities, flora and fauna.

The design includes an Eastern Bearded Dragon lizard of which the name 'Narrandera' is derived from, a koala representing the many hundreds that inhabit riverside forests, and a Murray cod of the Murrumbidgee River.

From 1858, paddle steamers frequented the river for many years. And, in its heyday, the brewing industry produced a well-known soft drink brand at a local factory bringing prosperity to the town. During World War II, a Tiger Moth aeroplane was used to train young men in flying. All these icons can also be seen on the water tower art.
