Every year the Naperville Art League holds the Naperville Riverwalk Fine Art Fair. It is a pleasant drive from Chicago out to Naperville through leafy roads.
The Riverwalk Fine Art Fair has a date set every year but it is usually the third Saturday in September. Which would make the 2016 dates September 17-18. But please check for the dates each year on the Naperville Art League website.
Artists attend from states across the country, and are subject to a rigorous juried assessment to assume that only the best take part.
I saw some spectacular work in oil, watercolor, and sculpture. There is also a range of artisan/artist jewelers and photographers.
Because these are creators of unique, handmade work prices tend to be moderate to high. But there are still knick-knacks and jewelry to be had for under $30.
Keep in mind that these are fine art works, copyright to the artist. Take photograph prominently including the art works only with the artist's permission.
The art fair is dog friendly, but made sure your dog is leashed, can deal with busy crowds, and if you are wise you will keep them beyond peeing-distance of the pricey artworks (some of which are displayed at ground level).
The surrounding area incudes boutiques, cafes, and the Riverwalk itself. So schedule a little extra time to take in the scenery.
Entry is free and free parking is available i nearby streets and the municipal building car park just across the river.
