Da yourself a favour
There is lots to like about this busy little Kedron café - the menu, easy parking and the service.
A friend and I lunched there on a Monday and it was almost full. It has only been open since April so this was a good sign. Despite the crowd service was fast, very friendly and able to accommodate any request.
The lunch menu is quite small, but you can also choose from the all day breakfast dishes. There were a couple of specials on the chalkboard as well. I chose the house smoked hot salmon, made on the premises. It was served as a salad with fennel, beetroot, capers and cherry tomatoes. The presentation was beautiful and it tasted great. I would have liked a slightly bigger serve but for around $15 it was good value.
My friend ordered the cider chorizo beans with mojo sauce, poached egg and chilli. Her request for bacon on the side was answered with a big serve of crispy, yummy bacon. The dish was very filling and she didn't manage to finish it. Luckily for me I scored a couple of pieces of aforementioned bacon.
We both had the juice of the day which our waitress said was whatever was available combined into a juice. On this occasion it was beetroot, pineapple, and carrot. I love this concept to use whatever happens to be fresh and available on the day.
There is a kids menu with pancakes, baby butty and boiled egg soldiers. Dogs are also welcome and a water bowl is provided for them.
They also do other juices, make a good coffee and serve an array of baked goodies. Nana and Da's is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days so there is plenty of opportunity to try all their fresh and tasty dishes.
Update November 2015: Nana and Da's Cafe now have a liquor license and are stocking Green Beacon beers and tasty wines. On Sunday afternoons, folk can kick back, have something to nibble, with a beer, or wine, Aperol spritz or even an espresso martini, while listening to some great live music.
