As you are driving down Sellicks Hill, it is very hard not to notice this huge Buddha statue which stands amidst Nan Hai Phu Tao temple. Only one of its kind in the southern hemisphere, this statue sits majestically along the southern coastlines. If you are looking for a peace of mind and somewhere to go on a Sunday afternoon, this is the place to visit. The energy that I felt on my first visit was just sensational. Every Sunday, the temple holds chants from 11 am till noon, followed by vegetarian lunch.

Cameras aren't allowed in the worship area, but can pay your respects to the deities by burning incense that is provided by the temple.

The temple is still under construction and they are looking for donations to complete the rest of the temple. If you are feeling a bit generous, for $50 you can get your name written on a tile which would be later used in construction. To make donations of more than $50, you can get a donation form from the temple volunteers.
