Naked Foods is located on the industrially hip and modern Lonsdale Street in Braddon, just a short walk from Canberra's city centre. This street is an interesting mix of cafes, restaurants, pubs, adventure clothing outlet shops, children's clothing boutiques, food trucks and healthy cafes. At the far end of the street, in the architecturally-striking Ori building, is a store that fits perfectly into this unique street with its globally-aware ethos and purpose. Naked Foods is an organic, pesticide-free health food store, which also has six other outlets in Sydney. All you need to do is walk in, follow the instructions to "shop naked" and buy yourself flavoursome organic products to snack on, cook with or fill up your pantry. You will be surprised by the range of organic products - and gluten free products - they have in their range...

There are hundreds of different products to choose from, with a wide range of nuts, dried fruit, coconut products, muesli, home-made granola, bars, chocolate-coated treats, dried strawberries, vinegar, chilli flakes, spreads, coffee, tea, bone broth powder - and much more. If you have kids, they will enjoy picking out what they like (and telling you what they don't like!) - making it a fun way to pick snacks and encourage healthy eating.

If you are interested in health and fitness, then you may have a protein shake before or after a workout, or to fill you up between meals. I was surprised to find that you can buy whey protein powder at Naked Foods by the gram or kilo - which is ideal if you just want to see if you like the taste, before buying a larger amount. Whey protein in particular is absorbed faster than any other protein, making it ideal for people recovering after exercise. This one has 44 grams of protein per 100 grams, making it very high in protein and it also has one other attractive feature - it's chocolate!

If you like to cook or bake with organic products at home, Naked Foods also has a wide range of organic flours, rice, pasta and lentils to purchase by the gram or kilo, so you can buy enough just to make one meal - or enough for a whole week of groceries. If you need some recipes to help you whip up an organic culinary masterpiece, see the Naked Foods Facebook for ideas.

Just as the sign says as you walk in the door, you just need to rip off a paper bag, grab a pencil and write the code of the product on the front of the bag. This handy feature, of just buying what you need, is perfect if you want to try out a new recipe but don't want to buy full packets of ingredients - which you may never use again. This way, you prevent wastage of both product and packaging, and just use what you need.

On our visit, my young daughter and I walked around and wanted to try a few different things, so we bought a few date and coconut logs (delicious!), a variety of dried fruits, chocolate-coated honeycomb (YUM!) and yoghurt covered macadamia and apricot bars (we wanted more!). When looking at the prices it can be hard to work out how much things will cost, with some products costing $100 a kilo, however when we got our paper bags added up at the cash register - it only cost us $5! This affordable price means that we will be back to try out more of their range and be able to fill up the bags even more, to enjoy later at home - if they make it that far!
