Sun 07 Jul 2019 - Sun 14 Jul 2019

NAIDOC Week Celebrations are Australia-wide from 7 to 14 July 2019. It's a moment in time when we stop to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Celebrations are not just for the Indigenous communities, but for and by Australians from all walks of life. Support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and participate in a range of activities running throughout those dates in July.

Watch out for local events near you that are organised by communities, government agencies, local councils, schools and workplaces. In fact, if you're up for organising a NAIDOC event in your area, you can find tips HERE on how you can go about celebrating NAIDOC. You'll also find resources on the website eg poster, logo, banners, to help you out. Once you're through organising your event, you can SHARE IT by registering it first, and once the team have checked it over, your event will be published. See HERE for all events taking place across Australia.

Voice. Treaty. Truth are this year's theme to adhere to. Coinciding with the celebration of United Nations International Year of Indigenous Languages , this year's theme were the three key elements to the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement of the Heart . Our history is not just that of the First Peoples, but of all of Australia and we need to work together, to move forward together for a shared future. Charmaine Mumbulla , winner of the NAIDOC 2019 Poster Competition cares deeply about this year's theme and about the celebration of Indigenous art and history.

Her artwork Awaken depicts early dawn light rising over Uluru, symbolising continued spiritual and unbroken connection to the land. The circles at the base of Uluru represent the historic gathering in May 2017 of over 250 people from many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations who adopted the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

Join in the weeks events near you and give voice to the celebration of our Indigenous culture. You'll find events in WA, NSW, QLD, NT, ACT and SA. Just keep your eye on the events pages as more are added on, till date of event in all states. Stay glued to the National NAIDOC Facebook page for updates and current information as well.

Though the Awards Ceremony tickets are all SOLD OUT, you can hear the live broadcast on NITV (channel 34 on free-to-air) from 6.30pm AEST on Saturday 6 July 2019. Other information to keep note of is that National NAIDOC does not endorse any merchandise for sale as 'Official merchandise'. You should not be paying for any merchandise that features the Official NAIDOC 2019 Logo. They also do not endorse any After Parties as the "Official National NAIDOC Ball After Party" - these are run by private promoters.
