NAIDOC Week 2021 is not till the month of July, however, NAIDOC related popular events tend to sell out quick smart, so here's your chance to grab a couple of tickets nice and early. The
City of Marion Libraries run a
variety of interesting events throughout the year and the following are a couple of
NAIDOC Week Workshops on their list.
Fri 9 Jul 2021 10.30-11.30am - Leaf Painting : A traditional dot painting workshop - $5 ticketed event at Marion Cultural Centre Library, 297 Diagonal Road, Oaklands Park - tickets here
Join Daphne Rickett Kaurna, Ngarrindjeri and Latji Latji Elder for both events and discover how to incorporate native bush foods and everyday ingredients. Daphne will discuss traditional food preparation methods and provide delicious bush tucker tastings. Come along and gain a deeper understanding of Aboriginal heritage and culture as well as connection to country.
The art event is a fun and interactive introduction to local Indigenous art techniques. Paint gum leaves using Aboriginal symbols and dot painting and learn the stories these symbols depict. Do note that
this workshop is for adults!
