The history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples take pride of place at the National Gallery of Victoria for NAIDOC Week . NAIDOC Week celebrations take place all over Australia with events being organised by groups and individuals.

The program starts on Sunday, July 7 at 2pm with a drawing session by Brian Martin who was highly commended in the 2012 Deadly Awards . All ages and artistic abilities are catered for with people being welcomed to come and go at any time. This is a great idea for families who may want to try a new activity and not feel pressured. Perhaps it might also attract someone who might want to try a new artistic pursuit in an informal setting.

The program concludes on Saturday July 13 at 3pm with a superb double film screening of Wanga Watangumirri Dharuk and Sand to Celluloid.

There are two events on a number of days but none on Monday July 8. Art, films, floor talks, lectures and tours ensure this is one of the best NAIDOC programs in Melbourne.
