Each week in July, NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples. It's not limited to celebrations in Aboriginal communities but by all Australians from all walks of life. It's a great time to get involved in a range of activities in support of your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Events are run all over Australia, and you too can run a NAIDOC Week event by registering it; and it'll be published once the NAIDOC team have checked it over. Voice. Treaty. Truth. is this year's theme to keep in mind!
It's OPEN HOUSE for everyone and the venue will be alive with Aboriginal art, poetry, films and culture. There's a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony throughout the venue, plus FREEfilm screenings in the Heath Ledger Theatre of Yulubidyi – Until The End and We Don't Need a Map.
It's an 85 minute documentary directed by Warwick Thornton and tackled head-on in a bold, poetic, essay-film, of a fiery subject. This is a fun and thought-provoking ride through Australia's cultural and political landscape. Registration is essential for all events and the given links to the event pages can be used as a platform for updates and enquiries.
