Naan Tandoori

If you're sick of paying $15 for a grease and gristle lunch, you'll definitely want to check out this Indian classic.

You'll find it just off the West end of Rundle mall in the Southern Cross food court. It's a simple shop with the seven or eight curries displayed in front. Nothing too unusual available, but all the classics like dhal and butter chicken are well prepared and precisely seasoned.

Although the selection is standard, the price is exceptional. A meat curry with rice or naan is $9, which is pretty good, but nothing to write home about. What I literally did write home about once is that you can get one vegetarian curry with rice or naan for only $6.

This is made more impressive by the fact that the naan is cooked in front of you while you wait, so it's soft as a soufflé and glistening with fresh butter on your plate. It's the best naan I've had in Adelaide, and I say that having tried a few pricey restaurants for comparison. The moustachioed man in the kitchen has naan baking down to an art form.

The portions are just enough to fill you up, but if you're incredibly hungry, you can get both rice and naan with a meat curry. This should be more than enough food, but the price is fairly average if you take this option (around $11). As far as food court dining is concerned this is the best value you'll find for something so healthy and tasty.
