Take your ice cream experience to the next level
N2 Extreme Gelato

The business of gelato making has just stepped up a notch. Introducing N2 Extreme Gelato, an idea concocted by a bunch of mad scientists experimenting with Liquid Nitrogen in ice cream making. The concept is brilliant and makes your regular gelato treat a fun experience.

Colourful concoctions in conical flasks

The entire shop reflects the theme of the idea. You see rows of colourful substances in laboratory conical flasks presumably containing all the weird and wonderful flavours that make up the gelato. I quickly identified real liquid nitrogen tanks that supply the substance that freezes ice cream in seconds. The ice cream servers wear laboratory coats and every minute or so you get a flood of liquid nitrogen vapour being released from the ice cream maker, creating a cool fog-like effect. This instant crowd-pleaser sends patrons into a mad frenzy of picture snapping on their phones and cameras.

Plenty of unique flavours to choose from

I was impressed by the flavours on offer such as Burnt Chocolate, Creme Brulee, Lychee on Rose and Mango Sorbet. I tried the Mango Sorbet which is refreshing and full of mango goodness and the Creme Brulee which is rich, smooth and decadent with a layer of caramelised sugar on the top from the light blow torching.

N2 Extreme Gelato is worth a visit if you're a fan of ice cream and on the lookout for unique flavours. At $6 a scoop you also get a free show in the science of ice cream making using Liquid Nitrogen. Not bad for a dessert.
