Ice-cream as you've never seen it before
N2, or well, nitrogen gas for those nerdy kids out there. Many of you probably have seen liquid nitrogen in work at some point or another, the super freezy liquid that can deflate balloons, freeze bubbles and for the best and tastiest part, make ice-cream!
Ice-cream is delicious, multi-flavoured and world famous, but now it is also more exciting and sciency! Okay, well not really sciency but I am a big science fan and I'll throw it in from time to time.
N2 is a gelato shop in Chinatown in Sydney and they have a range of funky flavours such as "sour cream chocolate", "mango sorbet" and "black salted caramel", which more adventurous ice-cream goers out there may love.
But, for people like me, who like classic vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, it's a bit of a let down to come all this way for ice-cream made with liquid nitrogen, only for it not to have your flavour.
So if you're willing to try all these funky new flavours, go crazy and take a scoop of everything, but if you're the kind of guy or gal who loves your classic vanilla, no matter how fancy the ice-cream is made, it's not worth buying.
I've taken 3 lots of visitors there for a special treat - at $6 it's tourist price - also note the menu has been all different every time I've been - but they're always interesting - I'm sorry I missed the mojito flavour - so if you see a flavour you like, try it, as it probably won't exist next time !
because it's made on the spot (in seconds - amazing to watch!) - it seems to be extra smooth - but it does melt relatively quickly, so don't linger - I just perch on a stool in the store and eat it straightaway.
