There is now an answer for the question asked on many occasions along the lines of "So what do you guys want to do today?"

Mystic Clue Room Escape is a fun, one of a kind real life room escape game that provides more than an hour's worth of entertainment for the times when it feels like there is nothing to do on a group outing with friends or family. Situated at Unit 7/1451 Albany Highway in Cannington, Mystic Clue Room Escape is located near Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre and opens from 11am to 9:30pm on weekdays and until midnight on the weekend.

Participating in the interactive games will test your problem solving skills, creative thinking and ability to work cooperatively with (or against!) your friends to find clues, interpret them and piece parts of the puzzle together to escape the room you are locked inside. Clues are to be searched for from high and low, obtained from gadgets, items and unexpected objects within the room that makes you use your brains in unexpected ways.

Our group of 6 visited Mystic Clue Room Escape and tested our strengths and revealed our weaknesses in the Prison Room. The staff are very helpful and introduce the concept of the game thoroughly before we started and provide guidance when you need, before locking all of us up and leaving our faith in our own hands.

The clues test your thinking and the solutions are right in front of you, but are hidden in ways that require you to think outside the square. There are steps to follow and the aim of the game is to work out the answers to each of these steps as fast as possible to work towards your escape.

When the solutions are reached, it is extremely gratifying and you definitely feel smug with your own efforts and achievements. You will feel frustration, you will feel defeat, but above all, you will also feel triumph.

Once you unlock your own freedom, you are told the amount of time taken before having your photograph taken and uploaded to their Facebook page almost instantaneously. The photographs are then printed and placed on the wall of fame in the public waiting room for all to see your achievements.

This room is stocked with couches, board games and other playful mini games to keep you entertained while waiting for the game to start. Judging by the amount of photographs being uploaded, the people of Perth are sure loving the novelty that Mystic Clue Room Escape provides!

The duration of the game depends entirely on how switched-on the 'detainees' are, with the average escape time being around 60 to 90 minutes per game. There are 3 rooms available to choose from, which change every 3-4 months to give you a chance to return regularly to satisfy your urges to be a detective.

The room designs and themes are created and continually updated based on collection of customer feedback, and include lots of interesting equipment, gadgets and hidden facilities to use and interact with. To add to the experience, you will be immersed in a game that involves technological and physical mechanisms, amongst interesting architecture in a deceptively simple environment.

The prices charged are per person and well worth it for the fun and unique experience involved. The current rooms on offer cater for different sized groups and include the following:

221B ($20 per person)
This is a smaller sized room ideal for smaller groups of 2-6 players. This classic room-escape game is designed for beginners to familiarise themselves with the game play, with puzzles structured logically yet requires the most 'brain work' from players.

Prison Room ($25 per person)
Taking place in an actual prison set-up, this room is best suited for 6 to 14 players. More experienced players are prisoners who not only have the goal of escaping but also engage in a game of trust amongst the group. Teamwork is tested in this more challenging but fun room.

Inception ($30 per person)
For groups of 4 to 16 people, Inception is a very suitable room choice. Similar to how the movie twisted and played with our minds, the Inception Room does a similar thing with emphasis on physical action, teamwork and logical, practical thinking.

Bookings are required in advance and players are advised to arrive 10 minutes prior to their booking time. Bookings can be made via their online booking form , with a deposit required for the reservation. The remaining balance is to be paid on the day, with the amount varying according to the chosen room:

221B (2-6 players) – $20 per person ($40 deposit)

The Prison (6-14 players) – $25 per person ($50 deposit)

Inception (4-16 players) – $30 per person ($60 deposit)
