The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a musical within a play, where the audience are observers of a cast rehearsing their rendition of the incomplete novel of the same name. The Mystery of Edwin Drood was written by Charles Dickens, and upon his death in 1870 was only half finished, with nobody knowing how the story would end.

Set in the fictitious English town of Cloisterham, the tale follows the interactions between Edwin Drood, his acquaintances and family members until one-night Drood goes missing and is presumed murdered. And if so, then by whose hands was our protagonist bludgeon to death? Well, that's up to you to decide.

Whilst this is a whodunit, it isn't the kind where you will be scrutinising and analysing every action and word spoken by the characters. The play is lighthearted in nature, and breaking the fourth wall adds a fun and humorous dynamic to the performance. And though told through song, you certainly don't have to be a musical fan to enjoy the show.

This adaptation of The Mystery of Edwin Drood doesn't take itself too seriously, and if you don't either, then there is no reason why you won't have a thoroughly good time at this musical play.
