About Mylk & Ko
Self-described as 'Brisbane's Hub for Wholesome Decadence", Mylk and Ko is a new kid on the healthy eating café scene. Mylk and Ko opened its doors on 5 February 2017 along busy Merthyr Road in New Farm on the former site of VESPA Pizza. This New Farm café is the creation of Ines Scholtes, a former lawyer turned wellness blogger with a rich, multicultural background having been born in Chile to a Belgian father and a half-Indian mother.

The Mylk & Ko Menu
Mylk & Ko's states that their aim is "to make food exciting and fun. Eating with requirements or preferences shouldn't mean you should eat boring food! Our vision is to create amazing gluten free, dairy free and vegan foods (where possible) so good they taste like regular foods."

As someone who has recently converted to a 'clean' diet, I am always on the lookout for places which offer healthy alternatives without losing some sense of indulgence. So what can you expect to find on the Mylk and Ko menu? Well, there's a wide selection of acai bowls, delicious smoothies, juices, coco-whip and coffee.

My eye spots a couple of seemingly naughty, sweet treats. The titles say sweet but the content show that they are actually packed with wholesome goodness. There's the Red Velvet Waffles made on waffle, coconut yoghurt, raspberry gel, strawberries, matcha crumb and cacao nibs ($19.00), and the Lemon Coco Pancakes filled with coconut pancakes, lemon curd, coconut yoghurt, strawberries, passionfruit, roasted almonds and coconut flakes ($19.00). You can't forget the Snickers Mousse either with cacao chia mousse, whipped peanut butter, cacao pops, banana and roasted peanuts. ($17.00) .

Those looking for a dairy free ice-cream alternative will be pleased to see that Mylk and Ko serves Cocowhip - the Original Healthy Soft Serve made with coconut water, organic bio-fermented coconut powder and vegetable Sourced stabilisers. Cocowhip is 100% Vegan, Gluten and dairy-free and packed with probiotics making it the perfect snack or treat for both adults and kids.

Coffees are made using Allpress Espresso. Mylk and Ko offer a couple of variations on standard hot and cold drinks on most café menus. For something different there's the iced matcha latte, matcha, maple and coconut mylk iced golden latte, healr turmeric and coconut mylk affogato, espresso and cocowhip deconstructed iced tiramisu (priced between $7:00-$9:00). Yummy and healthy!

What is the venue like?
Mylk and Ko has a fresh and cool vibe to match its menu with mint green exterior signage and a clean white interior (with a hit of gold) featuring wood seating and shelving. Indoor and outdoor seating, including a cute sideway alley, and street parking is available.

Is there anything else I should know?

Oh, that's right. Mylk and Ko is opened 7 days a week and dogs are welcome in the outside area. In fact, a dachshund said goodbye as I was leaving.
