The Myer Christmas Windows attract many locals and visitors to Melbourne; to the point where the area has to be barricaded that very same morning, and yes, the windows opened up today and they are available for view until the 5th of January 2012.
This year marked the 56th consecutive anniversary of this annual event in celebrating Christmas right here in Melbourne. This easily coincides with Santa's Grand Arrival which will be on tomorrow as of the time of writing this.
The children of the Sunshine Choir were so cute and adorable. There was a lady dressed up as a clown who was blowing up these different heart and flower shaped balloons, and you should have seen the excitement on their faces prior to them opening the event singing "The Little Drummer Boy" before the displays were revealed.
Well organised and fantastic singing. The Santa and nativity scenes are just fantastic, and once again this area of Bourke Street Mall is in vogue, and yet even hours after the grand opening at midday today; popularity and cameras continue to go hand in hand. Expect to be a little bit patient to see the full display as they are like a show and tell - similar to if you were visiting an art gallery. The Myer Christmas Windows easily give the displays at David Jones in Sydney a good run for its money; with a couple of people saying that this event is "Myer's gift to the City of Melbourne." Fantastic and Merry Christmas, Happy Festive Season.
