I don't think there is such a thing as 'too young' when it comes to starting a conversation with your children about their private parts belonging only to them. As, unfortunately, there are many dangers that our young children face.
That is why this book is such a great concept.
My Underpants Rule is based on a serious subject told in a non-confronting manner, empowering children to deal with difficult situations and to learn 'their underpants rule'.
This rule being;
what's under my pants belongs only to me! And others can't touch there or ask me to see. But safe grown-up or doctor when I'm not healthy. What's under my pants belongs only to me.
Told in whimsical rhyming verse, loaded with colourful, super-hero-caped children and smiley-faced underwear characters; Kate and Rod Power, have managed to incorporate a heavy subject and learning material, with a fun, repetitive and easy-to-remember rule/guide.
It also includes scenarios where you can ask your children how they would respond to such a situation; providing a great starting point for important conversations about safety and personal boundaries.
Author, Kate Power, is a former Police Officer who has seen first-hand the dangers children are exposed to. Combined with her husband Rod, they share a dream of a world where all children are empowered to know how to handle difficult situations and have learnt their Underpants Rule.
Hopefully, their dream of empowering 1 million children by 2020, will soon be recognised and My Underpants Rule will be a book every child will be fortunate enough to read.
My 3.5 year old son loves the book, and after reading it twice, can recite his underpants rule. I am very grateful to have found this wonderful book!
