So, My Mistress is the name of the relatively new café on Sandgate Road, Clayfield, Brisbane on the corner of Reeve Street.
Overlooking Sandgate Road, we didn't feel overwhelmed by the traffic - although there's only parking on the side streets and access is better from Reeve Street than trying to navigate the furious Sandgate Road raceway.
We were greeted and treated with chilled water when we arrived and given time to settle (petal) before ordering coffees and then breakfast.
My cappuccino was slightly cooler than normal (we ARE seasoned coffaholics now) but the flavour was lovely. My wife ordered a flat white in a cup and quite enjoyed her cup of 'AWAKE!!'.
The menu is not overcrowded - but we found a number tempting breakfast delights that made us think further investigations would be required at My Mistress.
I ordered the mischievously named 'morning glory' (bacon, eggs and cheese on a fresh bagel) and perhaps I ordered it only so I could trumpet it's name gleefully in public. Of course that would be childish. I would never do that.....
The Morning Glory from My Mistress
My wife's breakfast of zucchini fritters with scrambled egg and smashed avocado was apparently quite pleasant. Slightly overcooked eggs were the only drawback.
Overall, My Mistress was a very pleasing affair. Lovely wait staff, charming surrounds and tempting food. A dalliance worth revisiting.
My Mistress is open till 4pm for breakfast and lunch. Finally, a mistress my wife likes as much as I do!
