My Lords and Ladies Medieval Fayre is a family affair that will delight locals and visitors on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May 2014.
Lords and ladies of Blacktown and surrounds, head to the Nurragingy Reserve for a weekend of medieval fun with the knights, kings and queens, and lords and ladies. Get ready to relive history at the Fayre with heaps of exciting happenings throughout the weekend including thrilling combats, amazing attractions, excellent music and fantastic markets.
The popular
Jousting Arena will have visitors cheering, shocked and amazed. You'll want to snap a picture of the fully armoured knights on horseback as they charge towards each other. This thrilling spectacle will have you one the edge of your seat and full of adrenaline. So who's your knight in shining armour?
The Common will be full of historical exhibits, interesting demonstrations and entertainment . You'll see all sorts of medieval groups from various periods including Viking, Norman, Saxon, crusader, and Saracen among others. Learn about their arms and armour, and culture.
And the
Field of Honour is another action-packed area that will delight all revellers. Witness great skills and styles in hand to hand combats as the great warriors compete. Cheer, chant or shout and be part of the excitement of this competition.
Exciting battles and competitions aside, there are lots of attractions at the
Medieval Village which will delight all visitors. New to the Fayre this year is
Feathered Friends, a huge interactive display of traditional 'Birds of Prey'. Watch the majestic eagles, hawks and owls perform and you'll even have a chance to get up close and personal with them.
The young ones will love
Circus Works Activity Tent and
Enviro Craft Children's Workshop. You can juggle balls, twirl things and walk stilts at the Tent, or make crowns and create shields at the Workshop. What's more, free the camel and pony rides are guaranteed to be super popular so make sure you get in early to avoid missing out!
Of course, there will be a fantastic music program throughout the weekend with performances by Torin King, Royal Court Trio, Whitireia Performing Arts, The Kites, Nicholas Gentile, Vanessa Neinitz and Sepora. So when you need a breather, make sure you pop by the
Market Stage and check them out.
Last but not least, is the
Market Place. Expect stalls up the wazoo filled with art and craft, jewellery, food and drinks, and medieval paraphernalia. Come and browse, relax and eat!
