Sometimes friends know you better than you know yourself

It's My Little Pony time again. I don't need a reason, it just gives me joy.

There is a lot going on in this volume, plot-wise, with all of Equestria in peril. Enemies from previous adventures, including Iron Will the minotaur, King Sombra, Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings (that's my folk punk band who perform in fairy wings), and Rainbow Dash's rival, Lightning Dust, join forces to free the Umbrum, a race of shadow ponies imprisoned within the Shadow Prison in the Crystal Kingdom. Radiant Hope, the unicorn doesn't believe that her friend, Sombra and the Umbrum (my art school band, acid jazz with a Calypso twist) are truly monsters and wants to help free them.

My inner sci fi geek delights at this.

I especially liked some of the art in this one. The Umbrum are really creepy looking.

And as per usual, there are rainbows, fun pop culture references and adorable animals, and friendship saves the day. I will be sticking with this series to see what Volume 10 brings.
