The ponies of Equestria are having nightmares. Exhausted from so many disturbed nights they gather together at Pinkie Pie's home for a slumber party when Rarity is kidnapped and taken to the Nightmare Dreamscape. Princess Luna warns the ponies that the forces of evil did not dissipate when she was freed from her prison in the moon and that those forces will try again to claim a kingdom of their own. They will be coming for the six ponies (Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle) that represent the elements of harmony to destroy them and Ponyville.
Each volume of this series contains a separate story arc. While this volume does refer to events from volume one, it really doesn't matter if you haven't read the previous volumes. All you need to know is that there are magic talking ponies who are friends. High concept, eh?
The younger ponies also appear in this one, hoping to earn a 'saving Ponyville from certain doom' cutie mark.
I'm loving this series so far. It's pure escapism, full of sincerity and stories about loyalty and friendship.
My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic is issued by IDW Publishing. Volume 2 collects issues 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the comics. It has bright, colourful art, a fun sense of humour and is suitable for all ages.
