My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic: Volume 4 - Book Review

Yes, I'm reviewing the fourth volume in this series, because sometimes the world is a sad and scary place, and Equestria is not (unless you think too hard about the physics of it, or how ponies turn into humanoid horse creatures if they travel to the real world, or the fact that Spike the dragon is a slave...).
So... Volume 4 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic opens with our horsey heroes heady to the beach, where Fluttershy plans to release Gil, a fish she has nursed back to health. At Horseshoe Bay, they meet Hoofbeard, the pirate, and accompany him on an adventure to find a magical map.
Predictably, it's not all smooth sailing, and the ponies find that Hoofbeard isn't quite what he seems, but everything turns out all right in the end.
In the second story, mysterious cocoons are appearing around Ponyville. At the same time, a bookworm is destroying the books in Rainbow Dash's library. The ponies' attempts to fix this situation initially make things much worse, leading to fictional (within the MLP universe so, metafictional perhaps?) characters taking over the town. They will need some out of the box thinking to save the day.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic continues to be a fun, wholesome series, full of joy and sparkles, that is suitable for all ages. It's a great comic to come back to when you just want something warm and fuzzy to read.
