The Metropolitan Musical Theatre Company of South Australia proudly presents 'My Fair Lady', The musical of musicals. A musical based upon George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion'. Playing at The Arts Theatre from October 16-18 and 21-25.

My Fair Lady is the story of Eliza Doolittle played by Megan Doherty, she has an extensive background in theatre mainly working with The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of SA and this really shows in this role. Having acted in 'The Pirates of Penzance', Dirty Thirty and most recently 'Space Encounters' just to name a few, she really stood out as a talented singer and actress in this production.

It was great to see this beloved 1964 movie hit the stage of Adelaide, when Professor Henry Higgins (Brad Martin) meets a cockney girl selling flowers outside an old English pub he makes a point of telling Colonel Pickering (David Rapkin) that he could make a lady out of her. When the first song approaches 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly?' the crowd cheers within the first moments of this production the audience was entranced.

Eliza Doolittle (Doherty) decides she wants to be presentable in high society in order to sell flowers in a store instead of the street corner.

Everyone is fooled into believing Eliza is a lady and from that young Freddy Eynsford-Hill (Jared Frost) falls madly in love with her. Doherty's portrayal of 'The Rain in Spain', was very well done, but when she sang 'I Could Have Danced All Night' that's when the audience knew she was born to play this role.

Eliza moves on with Freddy and Higgins realizes he's grown accustomed to her face and can't really live without it.

At the end of the musical Eliza says, "I sold flowers, I didn't sell myself. Now that you've made a lady of me, I'm fit to sell anything else."

Staring Neville Langman as Alfred Doolittle, Anne Doherty as Mrs Pearce and Joy Bishop as Mrs Higgins.

It's an epic love story for the ages featuring a talented cast from the Adelaide theatre seen and all the fun-loving songs from the movie.
