Down a laneway in Newmarket is a real hidden gem. If you're sick of noisy, busy cafés, you need to visit this very girlie haven. Probably the best tip I can give you about visiting here is to allow plenty of time because there's shopping and then there's coffee and cake or Devonshire tea. A perfect outing with your Mum or girlfriends awaits you!
The first place to visit here is the Lavender Barn. Just take a look at the double bed at the front door as you enter - it's been made into a garden bed and shows off pretty flowering plants. Step inside ........ herein lie treasures of all kinds. Collector items, antiques, hand made craft items and quirky pieces. Take your time to browse, there's a lot to take in and just over the little bridge in the Rose Cottage Cafe, there's more. A community of 20 local boutique stores show off their wonderful gifts, home-wares, clothes and furniture at My Beautiful Things - you can see some of them in 'Home Beautiful' magazine's May edition.
Check out the double bed planter at the entry to the Lavender Barn
The Cottage is such a girlie space, lots of pink, pretty chair covers, beautiful crockery, flowers, chandeliers, and lots of shabby chic furniture. More handmade pieces, beautiful bags, clothes, scarves, coats, lamps, homemade biscuits, fine bone china plates etc.
If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful and beautiful place to spend some time with the girls, try My Beautiful Things. Rose Cottage Cafe takes bookings for high teas and craft workshops also run regularly. See the website for details or give Julie a call. Julie and Jeff own this business and are warm and welcoming. I was at My Beautiful Things when Julie was just starting to renovate and paint Rose Cottage and can't believe how much hard work she has put into this space - it really is a credit to her.
