Looking for special experiences at one stop while you are travelling overseas? Hong Kong is a great destination to immerse yourself in a variety of outdoor activities - a one stop hub to access a landscaped garden, a theme park, a charming fishing village and a nature reserve. There are five hand-picked spots for your exploration.

1. Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden

The Chi Lin Nunnery complex was established in 1934 and rebuilt in the 1990s.
Following the Tang Dynasty (618-907) architectural style, it's amazing that the wooden frames of the buildings joined together without nails.

How to get there: MTR Diamond Hill Station Exit C2, follow the signs and walk for around five minutes.

In close proximity, you can find the Nan Lian Garden , which is also modelled on Tang Dynasty style landscaped gardens. Over an area of 3.5 hectares, the garden is the lovely spot to enjoy the beauty of the surrounds and let relaxation sink in your vacation mood.

2. Hong Kong Disneyland

For family fun, there is nothing better than visiting the Hong Kong Disneyland , where you and family members can embark on a fun-filled journey through four themed lands: Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland.

One of the highly-anticipated events is the parade, which will surely be captivating. Disney characters will delight you with their dancing and singing. Make sure to bring your camera and act quickly to capture the magical moments.

3. Hong Kong Wetland Park

Located at the northern part of Tin Shui Wai, in Yuen Long, the Wetland Park is accessible by train plus light rail. Showcasing the region's ecosystem and plethora of wildlife, Hong Kong Wetland Park is a fun, interactive and educational centre.

Hong Kong Wetland Park is notably a great bird watching venue, attracting a wide array of species to stop over during migration seasons. There are a few bird watching towers for you to view different species of birds in the distance, using the high-powered telescopes installed on the premises

Continuing your journey you can find a pavilion where you can take a rest. If you are still full of energy, you'll soon reach the floating bridge and you can discover wonderful creatures in the surrounds. Simply relax and enjoy yourself at the park.

4. Sai Kung

Sai Kung is characterised by beautiful scenery, charming villages and stunning seascapes.

Sai Kung has a lot to offer - you can enjoy the seafood on the Seafood Street, appreciate the beauty of the seafront promenade alongside the scenic harbour and hop to other islands from the pier.

The small island of Kiu Tau is connected to Sharp Island by a tombolo (a ridge of pebbles and sand) only at a low tide. You can only walk across the sandy strip to reach the inshore islet within a short window of time because it is submerged during high tide. So, it is important to find out the tidal changes at different times of the day before embarking on your exploration. Check out the signboard which lists out the tidal prediction from Hong Kong Observatory for reference.

5. Aberdeen
Aberdeen, located on the south coast of Hong Kong Island, has for generations been a fishing port. Aberdeen promenades along the harbour is one of the main attractions. You can see 'Sampan' travelling in the Aberdeen Harbour.

In Aberdeen, Jumbo Floating Restaurant is a world-renowned floating restaurant where you can enjoy delicious seafood. As the restaurant is very reputable among the tourists, you may find that its food is also notably priced at a premium.

How to get there: MTR Central Station, Exit A, then take bus 70 from the Exchange Square bus terminus.

Happy exploration and enjoy your stay in Hong Kong.
