Legendary composer-conductor Joe Hisaishi returns for a huge encore performance of his beloved music from the films of Studio Ghibli.
Presented by Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with Arts Centre Melbourne for Asia TOPA, Music from the Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki will take place on February 29 and March 1 at Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
The performances are exclusive to Melbourne and follow four sold-out concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in April 2018.
As long-standing friends and collaborators, Hisaishi and director Hayao Miyazaki have worked together for more than 30 years, including on nine films from renowned production house Studio Ghibli.
Spend a grand evening at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and MSO Chorus perform these magical scores, conducted by Hisaishi himself, while heart-stirring montages, featuring scenes from Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away, play on a huge screen.
The concert will also feature a full children's choir and a marching band, bringing the groundbreaking films to life on stage.
