The Beautiful Losers have made a welcome return to the Perth music scene at this year's Fringe Festival, and made it even more triumphant by showcasing a musical tour-de-force that perfectly integrates with Emily Dickinson's poetry. With Nikki Jones reciting Dickinson's moving and emotionally penetrating words, the Beautiful Losers have managed to create a unique and haunting event that is rarely seen in Perth.

In the perfect setting of the Ellington Jazz Club, the band immediately captured the audience's attention with a display of musical and vocal virtuosity. The attention and engagement lasted until the end of a remarkable event that I am sure everyone wanted to continue for much longer.

The current line-up includes Greg Dear on guitar, Hurb Jephasun on keyboards, bassist Cliff Kent, and drummer Shaun Hoffmann. Their originality and talent perfectly support Nikki Jones, and we can only hope that this performance isn't filed away, never to be heard again. Sadly, their Fringe shows have ended, but Music for Emily Dickinson deserves to be heard by as wide an audience as possible, and I hope that it is the beginning of great things to come.
